Inspired Manicures on the Runway

February 23, 2010 - CND's cofounder and style director Jan Arnold, and master nail pros Roxanne Valinoti, Angi Wingle, and Kristina Estabrooks, designed Fall's newest mani looks at 25 shows during NY Fashion Week. Masculine and menswear influenced dark reds and heathered mushroom tones dominated short, softly squared nails on the catwalk. Here's the rundown:

3.1 Phillip Lim - Angi Wingle created an uptown Debbie Harry manicure using peachy pink Creamy Cameo; paired with Gold Chrome French pedicure tips on toes

At Alexander Berardi, Angi Wingle alternated use of Studio White, Dark Ruby and Blackjack coated with crushed crystals to match sharp detailing and bold colors

At BCBG and Max Azria shows, Roxanne Valinoti did a clean, fresh manicure with Putty in a satin finish

At Behnaz Sarafpour, Roxanne Valinoti used Desert Suede finished with Super Matte for a cashmere manicure to accessorize luxurious menswear fabrics, soft curly hair and buff, bronze makeup

At The Blonds, Kristina Estabrooks created custom jungle fever manicures using Scarlet Letter, Blackjack, Brilliant White, crushed glass and lots of glitter for wild nails to go with safari animal-inspired makeup

At Carolina Herrera, Roxanne Valinoti used Chocolate Milk topped with Air Dry for an ultra-shiny sophisticated manicure to match plum tinged eyes and luxe lady-like pieces

For Douglas Hannant, Angi Wingle dabbed Dark Ruby and Copper Shimmer onto nails for a tortoise shell look to complement abstract prints and patterns; with Dark Ruby on toes

For Diego Binetti, Kristina Estabrooks designed a crystal noir manicure using a two-sided technique with Blackjack on the front topped with textured glittery clusters and Dark Ruby on the reverse side of each nail to accessorize opulent, sophisticated clothing

At Ecco Domani, Kristina Estabrooks used Putty layered with Copper Shimmer and finished with Super Matte for a textured neutral sans shine

At Herve Leger, Angi Wingle used opaque nude Desert Suede on toes for a suntanned look, and used SolarOil on nails for a luminous, groomed finish

For Jason Wu, Roxanne Valinoti and Kristina Estabrooks layered one coat of Silver Chrome and two coats of Putty finished with Super Matte for a photograph negative-inspired sepia shade

At Karen Walker, Angi Wingle did an effortlessly femme manicure with sweet, semi-sheer pink Rose Water to match playful prints and patterns

For L.A.M.B.'s '30s inspired urban glam style, Roxanne Valinoti did Dark Ruby on a short nail to match the lips and sultry dark eyes

At Malandrino, Angi Wingle created a bark hued, leather-like manicure with Dark Ruby layered with Copper Shimmer and topped with Super Matte to complement the Mongolian Nomad-inspired collection

At Marc By Marc Jacobs, Roxanne Valinoti (with Elisa Ferri) created naturally gorgeous, girly manicures by grooming with SolarOil and using polish in Rose Water topped with Air Dry to match minimal makeup and simple texturized hair

At Marc Jacobs, CND's Roxanne Valinoti (with Elisa Ferri) created five shades of greige ranging from creamy brown-gray to light lavender beige in order to complement the gorgeous runway palette

At Milly, Roxanne Valinoti shaped short, tailored nails and used deep red Dark Ruby for a youthful, French-chic inspired manicure

For Monique Lhuillier's China Doll beauty look, Angi Wingle created a high-shine molten manicure using Rouge Red to harmonize with porcelain skin and velvet red lips

At Rag & Bone, Roxanne Valinoti created an androgynous, menswear-inspired manicure with Asphalt and Super Matte for a gorgeous heather gray

At Ruffian, Angi Wingle created a lunar eclipse manicure with Inkwell topped with Super Matte and edged with a platinum metallic Gold Chrome moon to match cosmic, ethereal makeup and hair

For ThreeASFOUR, Roxanne Valinoti produced a "mythical eye" manicure by coordinating fabric swatches with four different Colour & Effects combinations; all with the "eye" in Blackjack coated with Super Matte for a rubberized textural feel

For Twinkle, Roxanne Valinoti created a haunted romantic manicure with two coats of Dark Ruby topped with Super Matte for a Hansel & Gretel-inspired Gothic Grimm look

For Victor dE SOUZA, Kristina Estabrooks fashioned extra-terrestrial nails using pre-fabricated white tips washed in Copper Shimmer that started at the first digit below the nail for a claw-like effect
